The world is confronted with various transportation issues that are quite
complex, having social economic and cultural dimensions. The increasing traffic
volume has brought about traffic congestion resulting in longer travel times on
roads. This results in colossal economic loss and environmental pollution which
ultimately degrades the overall quality of life of the people. The situation is
worsened by non-existent or inadequate infrastructure for non-motorized-modes
(walk and bike), inadequate public transportation system, inefficient freight
transportation system, non availability of sufficient parking facilities, less
infrastructure capacity and poor quality of existing roads. It is anticipated
that the motorization will, for many years, continue to increase and hence the
associated impacts. The issues of air traffic congestion and resulting impacts
have also taken alarming proportions. Inland water-transport-promotion is being
toyed with for long. There also exist issues that are specific to cold and hilly
regions and need immediate attention.

National Institute of Technology (NIT), Srinagar, is completing 50 years of its
exciting existence and service in 2010. This momentous occasion is being marked
by organizing the International Conference on ‘Recent
Issues and Solution Methodologies in Transportation Engineering and Planning
(RISTEP)’ that lays special
emphasis on Sustainable Transport
during June 15-18, 2010. The
conference theme covers both scientific and operational aspects of
transportation and traffic engineering (spanning all modes) and provides a
platform for researchers, academicians, policy makers and other stake holders
from all around the world to discuss the current chronic transportation
problems, provide a deeper understanding of the issues involved and come out
with effective and innovative solution techniques. The conference is being lent
active support both by government and industry and is expected to involve
vibrant participation of transportation professionals from around the globe.
To enable the governmental and industrial agencies to actively participate in
the event and to organize the event in the most befitting manner, the organizing

Every sponsor , in general, will be given due recognition by displaying the
banners (plan-wise) at different locations right from Srinagar Airport upto the
location of conference venue (including inside and outside of conference venue),
by mentioning and acknowledging all sponsors in all main functions of the
conference, proceedings and conference official web-site.
The sponsorship funds will be used to cover the general conference expenditures
like publication of proceedings, conduct of technical/site visit, venue and
session logistic charges etc as well as hospitality (catering, local-travel
etc.) of the participants. Funds raised will be spent as per governmental
guidelines presently in vogue in NIT Srinagar and will be audited by NIT
Srinagar.
Sponsorship amount can be sent by way of a Demand Draft or Crossed Cheque, drawn
in favour of
RISTEP2010, payable at
Srinagar (Kashmir). Please also
indicate your preferred sponsorship plan. It can also be tele-transferred to J&K
